Captain & Expert Liveaboard Dive Guide

My name is Ahmed Mohammed, though I am universally known as Sambo.

Born and raised in Hurghada, my blood has always been one with the salt water of the Red Sea.

My diving career, charted by the destinies of the sea, is the story of a natural ascent, from fishing nets to the captain’s bridge.

My family heritage is rooted in the ocean.

As a child, I learned the basics of the sea and its immutable laws alongside my family of fishermen.

This unique upbringing instilled in me a deep respect for the marine environment, a value that still guides every decision I make today.

I began my professional career on daily dive boats before discovering the demanding and captivating world of liveaboard cruises, where I climbed the ranks to the prestigious role of Captain.

My passion for the underwater world naturally followed this path.

I began my dive training in 2000 and earned my Divemaster certification in 2002.

I honed my expertise guiding divers from all walks of life for two years before fully dedicating myself to liveaboard expeditions, accumulating valuable experience over more than a decade.

Today, I am proud to contribute my experience to the Xplorer fleet since 2016, where I operate as an expert Dive Guide.

To ensure the highest level of technical mastery and safety on board, I have specialized in breathing gas preparation and am certified:

• Tek Gas Blender – Mastery in preparing technical gas mixtures (Trimix, Heliox)

My unique journey, which began in the local waters alongside fishermen and culminated in the position of Captain, gives me an intimate and respectful knowledge of the Red Sea.

It is this passion that I strive to share with every diver I guide.
